Report Details
Well the confidence I showed in catching fish after the big blow was crushed in the last couple of days.  We did catch a few (5 to 8) walleyes per boat, but that is a lot of areas checked and 5 of more boats working together to get something figured out. This feels a lot like catching fish during the spring smelt run.  I don't remember ever marking that many baitfish in shallow water in the middle of June.  The best technique I have found the last couple of days has been driving around graphing the areas, not for fish but I have been trying to find areas that are not completely covered in baitfish. The fish we are able to catch have been from 18 to 35 fow and most coming on a plain hook with either a crawler or a leech.   We are catching lots of small perch a few catfish right along with the walleyes.  I havn't spent any time the last two days on the smallmouths or the crappies, but plan on trying both in the next few days.  I did catch a 4 lb salmon yesterday on leadcore in 25 fow.  We plan on traveling north tomorrow and hope to fish here at Swan Creek again the following day.  Hopefully the baitfish will spread out as fast as they loaded up on the main structures and the bite will return like it was.
