After reading on other sites It has become clear to me I have no idea what I'm doing. I have been reading up on reloading for this work horse but would like to see some one do it first hand, with the M14 being so picky I'm scared that my loads may destroy my rifle. From what I understand reloading for the M14 is not as easy as reloading for a bolt action is this true? My goal is to work up a load for 500 to 600 yards. I have all the equipment needed to reload, and I am willing to pay you for your time.

If you have a small base die you should not have any issues.  I the brass has all come from one rifle check the length  The small base die will squeeze down so it will work in the autos
the m14 is a really tough gun just work up to the max just like all others

If its not already equipped with one, I would recommend putting an adjustable gas plug on it.

Reloading for M1 Garands or M1A's is no big deal compared to other semi autos, but shooting really hot loads through them can potentially increase wear on the op rod and receiver. Putting an adjustable gas plug in allows you to shoot a hotter load and bleed some of the "excess" gas out of the system and reduce the op rod speed down to a level where it still cycles the weapon, but isnt slamming the snot out of it.
