I heard on the news from ND Game and Fish that most waterfowl will be heading north because there are fewer wetlands than last year in North Dakota.  Is this weather related due to the dry winter.

With the new farm program farmers can drain wetlands.  There is a farmer up here that bought a rotary ditcher and he has been busy in different parts of the state cleaning out waterways.   Got to feed the world so they need draining to produce food because thelazy people on welfare keeps pumping out kids and most don't have a clue who or where the dad is

Let the refuges produce the ducks  and let the farmers produce the food

The best democrat platform a Republican can stand on it a manure pile

drug test everyone on welfare

have an open season on molesters

I think the draining allowed depends on the NRCS  supervisors in each county.  In Dickey county it is a free for all.  Lots of ditching going on and no one stops them, even if they are reported.  Alot of farmers also have their own back hoes.  Seems anything goes down here!

Might as well start selling off my gear if this comes to fruition.

Maybe if half the farmers weren't producing worthless fuel for cars instead of food in their fields.  Worked out real great too, dropped the price at the pump .01% and raised the price of food 30%, and decreased pollution a big fat 0%.

Maybe if you stopped eating would help the food cost.   Don't like the gas for your car walk.  Don't like what is planted buy your own land there is always some for sale.

You can't blame the farmers for raising the crops that are bringing in the most money for them.  The cost to just get into farming for machinery is nuts and i mean a million dollars won't buy you much.  Then you either have to buy land or rent land and either way you are going to be paying big bucks.  After that you need to buy your fertilizer at $800 to $1000 a ton, then seed, chemical, and fuel.  We depend on farmers and i know in our county if the farmers falter and don't get a crop or a poor crop they aren't spending money like if they get a good or bumper crop.  Everything goes down hill from there.  The price of food is getting higher i agree but it is still cheap compared to other nations.  At the very least we can go buy food where some nations they can't.  As tough as it is, there is always worse places and things going on.
I wish gas and diesel was back down to a $1.00 but i don't think we will see that again.  Sure hope i am wrong!

Nice misinformation their Marksman.  You can't just drain any old wetland that you want.  And when did the new farm program come out??

One Big Ass Mistake America !

Farmers have been "draining" wetlands as long as I can remember.  They just don't get caught or they wait for the next dry cycle, and fill in that low spot in their field.  Theres also record numbers of waterfowl spending the whole winter here in ND this year.

welcome to ND, this is the start of a dry cycle.  in 3 to 5 years you'll see another wet cycle, maybe better or even worse than the last.  It's not the appocalypse.  You should also see sakakawea start to go down continuously for the duration of this cycle (already down 20+ feet from july) and waterfowl will shortly peak and then decline.  However you will see pheasant and deer numbers begin to go up and so on and so forth.

Ride the rollercoaster and enjoy whats on the upswings.

But the govt at various levels has mandates on the amount of ethanol in gasoline.
Not as simple as you would think to use the product you want in this day and age.

So correct me if I'm wrong...are you guys saying a farmer can drain a wetland at his discretion and farm it?

I think it is 10% here but there are a lot of stations that sell ethanol free gas also.

Might want to check around how many people that are employed at the ethanol plants, the number of trucks hauling in and out of them, the amount of by product used for feed is huge.  The opening up of more acreas planted have incresed demand for equipment thus creating more jobs.

Dont' drive muliti do your part to end the use of ethanol.  Better yet grow you one food maybe you can put a farmer or two out of busssiness and close a food store or two.

we'll your advise is late mauser, I don't like ethanol and don't buy it.  plenty of gas stations here that sell regular unleaded.  Good effort though.

Can a farmer drain a wetland legally? usually no.  Can I drive faster than the posted speedlimit? again, not legally.

Theres still 10 times more available wetlands area in ND right now then there was 4 years ago, so tell me how it's all going to disapear in 3 months?  "Most" waterfowl to head north? maybe more, but definetely not most.

Nice spin...Where did I say you can drain a wet land with out being approved? I never said anything about wetland disapearing in 4 months.    If it gets dry enougha lot of them will dry up but refill with moisture.  I guess you don't know the difference between drying up  and draining.
